Earth Star Playlist
Welcome to a calm place to listen to music! The streamable playlist below is always free- and refreshes every few weeks; like a sonic magazine.
The meeting of freedom and structure is a common theme in Phil's music; Improvisation with no pre-conceived context, against improvisation within harmonic sequences, or pre-composed melodic statements. The first and last track come from collaborations with Indian Tabla virtuoso Gyan Singh, the last track, 'Hungry Star', is from the forthcoming album of the same name from Phil's new band "The Beautiful Storm' with Graeme Stephen. In between, lies a variety of line-ups and approaches to music-making including 'Inverted Earth' from a free improv Sax Quartet led by Martin Speake, with Martin Hathaway and Tony Kofi, to be released next year on Discus records. We hope you enjoy this diverse selection.
